Although we cannot SOLVE the problems in the lives of all children in Sri Lanka, we believe that it is WORTH it to SAVE the life and DREAMS of every child who comes to us for HELP!
“Shining Stars Sri Lanka” has been registered as a Voluntary Social Services / Non-Governmental Organization at the Divisional Secretariat (Registration & Supervision) under the Registration No. of GM/WAT/WF224 on 22nd of June 2017 – Act No.31 of 1980 as of 1980 as amended by Act No.8 of 1998.
SHINING STARS works mainly in the fields of education; both formal & non-formal. We provide help and support by providing teachers and resources to conduct extra classes for Mathematics, English Language, and General Science and in native languages where there are no resources available.
The conduction of awareness programs and counseling sessions for depressed families and parents has also been effective and welcomed. The rate of suicide in this region is worryingly high when compared with other regions in Sri Lanka. Due to a combination of poverty, low levels of education and not being able to handle stress, many parents commit suicide and their children are left vulnerable and destitute. Their future and potential is also eradicated overnight. SHINING STARS has recognized these situations and the needs of the community in this area. Therefore one of the main efforts has been very effective. Already we have been recognized as effective, efficient and result oriented by the community. Which is encouragement for SHINING STARS to be more energetic and march forward to carry out its vision and mission.
